Iran’s national football team will depart Antalya for Tijuana at 15:20 local time on Saturday, June 6, and is scheduled to arrive in Mexico at 1:30 a.m. on Sunday, June 7.

The squad has been holding its pre-World Cup training camp in the southern Turkish resort city of Antalya since May 18, with Mexico now set to serve as Iran’s base for the duration of the tournament.

Team Melli is still waiting for clarity on U.S. visas, even though all three of its Group G matches are scheduled to be played in the United States.

Iran’s football federation chief Mehdi Taj previously said the players were expected to receive their Mexico visas before U.S. visas could be issued quickly, though it was not immediately clear whether the full visa process had been completed.

The team is expected to travel to Mexico via Spain after completing the final stage of its Antalya camp.

Before leaving Turkey, Iran will play a final World Cup warm-up match against Mali on Thursday. The match is expected to be held behind closed doors without media attendance, in line with the coaching staff’s tactical plans.

Team Melli has already played several preparation matches during its training camps in Antalya, including a 3-1 win over The Gambia on May 29.

Iran opens its World Cup campaign against New Zealand in Los Angeles on June 15, then faces Belgium in Los Angeles on June 21 before traveling to Seattle to play Egypt on June 26.
